Let's climb Siripa from Kuruwita Erathna Road to see the nature and please Siripa
Siripa Karuna is one of the greatest pilgrimage experiences we have in Sri Lanka. Buddhists believe that the left Siripa mark of the Lord Buddha is on the butterfly hill. Climbing Samanala Kanda to see that magnificent land has been a very devotional pilgrimage among the Sinhalese for centuries. When there are no vehicles, Siripa's kindness begins by getting ready for it before boarding it, handing over his house, property and even cattle to his children. Because at that time we had to walk the entire Sri Pada on foot on the difficult mountain roads full of elephants and tigers. But now we have been able to go downstairs in a vehicle and finish Siripa Karuna in a day.
Kuruwita Erathna Road has not yet been cemented. The road does not attract a large number of tourists. You have to jump over the rocky outcrops and walk through the jungle. Kuruwita Erathna Road is one of the best roads where our ancestors climbed Siri Pada. It is not as easy as traveling on the Hatton Road to reach Mahagiridambe in four or five hours from where you started. Starting from the Kuruwita Erathna site, it will take at least 12 hours to complete the journey. Most of that time we have to go through the jungle. There are not many shops on either side of the middle road. Occasionally there is a lodge and an ambalam.
If most of the five-year-olds were together, it would be difficult to travel to Siripa on the Kuruwita Erathna Road. Because this journey is 15 kilometers. Also, for those who are not used to walking a lot, it is a bit difficult to travel on the Kuruwita road. If you take a bus on the road, you can go to Kuruwita and from there take the same bus to Erathna Adavi Kanda and start the journey from there. It is a bit easier to find a bus that goes directly to the site. Because the Siripa journey has to start from the Adavi Kanda bus stop. Getting off the bus at Hatton is easier than getting on a bus and getting off at Kuruwita again.

There are big ambulances along the way. 15 kilometers is a bit difficult for the average person. Our ancestors used to walk about 8 km a day, stop at an Ambalama on the way, cook, sleep, and then start their journey in the morning. Just like at that time some pilgrims still come and cook in these Ambalams and do Siripa Karuna. At that time it was a wonderful time to exchange food with the rest of the group, talk about the details and spend time in those huts. A small shop will definitely be set up near all these Ambalams during the Siripa season. It can also be used to buy food, drink, and water.
If you want to see the beauty of nature and do Sripa Karuna, then Kuruwita Road is the best place to go. It is one of the most beautiful experiences in life.
