 Siripa Karuna is one of the greatest pilgrimage experiences we have in Sri Lanka.  Buddhists believe that the left Siripa mark of the Lord Buddha is on the butterfly hill.  Climbing Samanala Kanda to see that magnificent land has been a very devotional pilgrimage among the Sinhalese for centuries.  When there are no vehicles, Siripa's kindness begins by getting ready for it before boarding it, handing over his house, property and even cattle to his children.  Because at that time we had to walk the entire Sri Pada on foot on the difficult mountain roads full of elephants and tigers.  But now we have been able to go downstairs in a vehicle and finish Siripa Karuna in a day.
